When you arrive at Secret Valley Escape you will immediately become enveloped by the feeling of peace and total tranquility. Sit quietly anywhere on the property, and you will see the bush come alive with a plethora of Australian birds and wildlife. It is a perfect place to relax, forget your cares, to refresh and regenerate, and to discover a new paradise.
Sometimes you may be greeted immediately by our curious alpacas. The 'fellas' - black Gandalf, Anzac (cookie coloured), and Sinatra (previously 'the fair' but now 'the fatso') may come over to check you out - they may initially appear intimidating but alpacas are vegetarians and eat grass so no need to worry - they only want a sniff (or some 'paca pellets!). You may also meet our lovely girls, and the cute kiddies:- Surprise (big white boy with spots), Finna (little dreadlocks), Arcadia (honey-coloured), and our littlest - Coco!
You will also see kangaroos roaming the property. Kanga and baby can often be spotted waiting in front of Illowra House - she was raised by a Wires volunteer so is not as shy as the others you will see.
Explore our secret valley, and walk any of our numerous walking trails to magical hidden corners of our 200 acre retreat. Meander down to Blackheath Creek where the water runs over the rocks and search for platypus and turtles. Take a picnic through the serene valley, and ascend to the high fields where the wind sings to the gumtrees. Find the hidden honeycomb caves, and walk along the cliffside to watch the sunset from our stunning lookout and meditation points over the secret valley.
We share our home with families of roaming kangaroos and wallabies. If you wait patiently you may catch Mr Wombat leaving for his nightly forage and maybe surprise an echidna. Look for platypus and turtles in the cool waters. Listen to the joking cockatoos and watch the beautiful flight of rosella flocks. |
