S & B

Do you have a minimum stay?
On the weekends we have a minimum stay of 2 nights in our cottages. During the midweek we do allow 1 night bookings. However we do feel that the best way to enjoy your experience at Secret Valley Escape and allow time to explore this amazing 200 acre retreat is to stay for at least 2 nights.

What time is check in and check out?
Check in is from 3pm and check out is at 11am. If you have any particular requests, please speak to us in advance and we will try our best to accommodate you.

Are children allowed?
To maintain the privacy of our guests, we do not allow children or babies in our luxury spa cottages. If you wish to bring children, please speak to us and we may be able to accommodate children in Artist's Cottage.

Are pets allowed?
We are sorry but pets are not allowed at Secret Valley Escape as we do not wish to stress the native wildlife that you will see on the property.

Do you have non-smoking rooms?
We have a no smoking policy in all our rooms and cottages. We kindly ask that if you need to smoke to smoke outdoors and to carefully dispose of the cigarette butt in the garbage bins.

What is your cancellation policy?
Once a reservation has been made, any changes or cancellations can be made up to 2 weeks prior to the check-in date. When a cancellation or change is made less than 2 weeks before the check-in date, the full amount will be charged. We will endeavour to rebook your cottage, and where successful we can refund your payment, less a $50 administration fee.

Do you provide breakfast?
On weekend 2 night bookings we include lovely breakfast basket provisions full of local produce. Bake your own delicious smelling bread in your cottage, and enjoy it along with fresh farm eggs from our chooks and a selection of local fruit jams from Bilpin and Kanimbla. Also included is refreshing apple juice from Blackheath, a selection of teas and premium coffee from Fish River Roasters.

Do you have a restaurant?
We do not have a restaurant but are happy to recommend some lovely local restaurants. The cottages have their own kitchen and BBQ so you can also choose to do your own cooking.

What do I need to bring?
We recommend bringing warm clothing, as well as long pants, a hat and sensible shoes for exploring the property. We provide you with all your towels and linen, as well as bathrobes and slippers. If you are planning to cook we also recommend that you bring your food provisions as the shops are a little drive away.

You may also wish to bring some of your favourite books, CDs and DVDs. You are welcome to borrow DVDs from our library, and there is a small selection of CDs and books in your cottage.

Where are the closest shops?
For emergency supplies, Mount Victoria Caltex would be the closest location. There are some local shops in Blackheath, which close in the evening. The nearest large supermarkets are in Lithgow and Katoomba, and are usually open until late. If you are coming up from Sydney, we recommend buying your food supplies in Katoomba before you come.

Is there heating inside the cottages?
The cottages all have reverse cycle air-conditioning for heating during winter, as well as electric blankets to keep your bed toasty warm. The cottages also have a wood fire slow-combustion stove for efficient heating and wonderful romantic ambience.

Is it too cold to use the spa in winter?
Of course not! In fact it is lovely delicious sensation to jump into the steaming hot water in wintertime. We maintain our spas at a perfect 38, though you are free to adjust the temperature according to your desire.

Do you provide wood for the wood fire stove?
Yes, we have wood and kindling available for use in your fireplace. We have a self service wood shed where you can pick it up.

What is the best time to visit the Blue Mountains?
Winter traditionally tends to be the most popular time to visit the Blue Mountains, but in reality there are many reasons why you should visit us for all four seasons! People come in winter for a 'mountain winter' experience, to rug up with beanie and gloves, sit by a cosy wood fire and celebrate Yueltide. However summer in the mountains is also extremely beautiful, a great time for going on bushwalks, and an excellent way to escape the oppressive heat and humidity of Sydney. Best of all is enjoying gorgeous light over the escarpment during the long summer evenings.
